Commerce’s Brandon Cochran-Mackin – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Goodfella’s Pizzeria

Brandon Cochran-Mackin is in his senior year at Commerce High School, where he is a track team member. He enjoys competing in track but says he was encouraged to try out for the team and is glad he did.

“I started running track in middle school,” Brandon said. “The coaches thought I would have a good shot at making it to state when I got into high school.”

Besides track, Brandon is also a member of the Tiger’s football team. He says that in both sports, the teammates he competes alongside have been an important part of his career, along with a few other important people.
“My teammates, family, and coaches give me the motivation I need in order to compete at my highest level,” he said. “The people that coach me and play with me are the best part because you make the best memories when you are with your sports family. My teammates mean the world to me, they are my brothers and I will do anything for them.”

Way before he started playing sports, Brandon had a couple of people that were in his corner since day and I have helped him become who he is today.

“The biggest role models for me would have to be my parents,” he said. “I look up to them because they push me to always be my best.”

Logan Cawyer is the track coach at Commerce and he says that Brandon is the epitome of an outstanding athlete.
“Brandon is a great kid and works hard at everything he does,” Cawyer said. “He is one of our senior leaders that pushes kids to be better. He is coachable and listens well, making the adjustments when needed. He is a four-sport athlete and is trying to make the most of his senior year.”

With his final year of high school coming to a close, Brandon already has his eyes on his future.

“I plan to go to Oklahoma State University to get my bachelor’s degree in Architecture. Then I want to have a family.”
