Grove’s Kaylin Gage – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Mark Lee- Shelter Insurance

Soccer is a very competitive sport that requires skill. For Grove High School senior Kaylin Gage, her talents allow her to play multiple positions in soccer.

She plays the positions of Right and Left Wing, Attacking Mid, and forward

In terms of what has motivate Kaylin, she stated, “My competitive side motivates me the most. I am someone who doesn’t like to get beat or lose, so I let that competitiveness motivate me.”

When it comes to a memorable moment of her high school soccer career thus far, Kaylin stated, “I have a lot of highlight moments that I could say, but I would choose the moment that would determine the first team that we would play in the first round of playoffs. If we won the game, we would play the 3rd seed team, but if we lost, we would have to play the best team in the district.

There was a lot of pressure that game, and my entire team held strong. We ended up going into overtime, where I had the biggest moment of my life.

That goal not only impacted me but benefitted the entire team as a whole.”

For what has made Kaylin a success in soccer, Kaylin accounted, “I am successful with hard work. I put in the time and effort to do things right. You can’t just expect to do things without trying. You have to know how to do them right. Mentality is a giant thing as well. If you have a bad mentality towards some things, you have already beat. Have a positive mindset.”

Off the soccer field, Kaylin is involved with other activities at Grove High School. Kaylin stated, “I am involved in a couple of community service clubs such as the National Honor Society and Interact.”

After high school, Kaylin plans on pursuing higher education. Kaylin stated,

“After graduating high school, I plan to attend College of the Ozarks to study nursing and eventually continue on in my medical journey.”
