Ketchum’s Kenzie Buzzard Athlete Spotlight – Presented By TH Rogers Lumber Company

By Payton Moody

High school athletics are extremely competitive, now more than ever. It takes dedication, consistency, and hard work to be successful in all sports, but especially for those who plan to play at the next level of competition. Kenzie Buzzard, a senior at Ketchum High School, understands just how much it takes to achieve sports-related dreams.

“Consistency is key,” said Buzzard, who has played third base, short stop, second base and catcher for the Lady Warriors softball team. “No good athlete got to where they are today by slacking and skipping practices, you have to be motivated to do it even on the days you don’t want to.”

Buzzard has been playing softball since she was four years old and has always dreamed of playing collegiate softball. She has participated in travel softball leagues since she was a young girl and is currently on the Elite Heat team based out of Seneca, Missouri.

“I’m very driven to be the best player I can be with my own personal goals, along with being the best teammate I can be,” Buzzard said.

Buzzard has strived to be successful in life, no matter the field or setting.

“My goals for college are to continue to grow in my softball abilities and also continue my education,” Buzzard said. “I would like to become a teacher and coach, so I’m able to pass on my knowledge and love of this sport to future generations.  I’ve had many people support me and push me to surpass what I thought were my limits.”

One of Buzzard’s most notable supporters is her uncle.

“He’s my favorite person,” Buzzard said. “He was there for me when no one else was and taught me valuable life lessons all throughout my life.”

Her plans following graduation are to continue her softball career at Missouri State University, where she will major in sports medicine.
