Vinita’s Lauren Fraley Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Patrick Kauffman, Shelter Insurance

By Chance Burk
Dedication is one of the essential qualities of being great at something. In the world of sports, dedication is a quality that one must have to be great. Lauren Fraley takes dedication to a whole new level, on and off the field.
Lauren Fraley is a sophomore at Vinita High School. She is a member of the track, cross country, and basketball teams. Although track is her main sport, she is very dedicated and committed to being the best at whatever she pursues. The head coach of the Vinita track team, Nathan Wylie, stated that Lauren is the “hardest worker on the team and a joy to be around.”
Lauren loves being part of a team and is a true believer in teamwork.
“In track, it might not always be a team event, but it is always a team sport,” she said. “Teamwork is always important. There is no ‘I’ in team, and there is no ‘I’ in track.”
Dedication in and outside of sports is something that Lauren takes very seriously. She is very proud and confident in her faith as a Christian and lives her life devoted to Christ. She is heavily invested in her youth group and she stated that she “prays before every meet.”
Family is something Lauren also dedicates herself to.
“Lauren is very dedicated in everything she does. When she sets her mind to it, she does it,” says her father, Jim Fraley. Jim also ran track in his high school days and said that Lauren is “much faster than I ever was.”
Outside of her success in sports, Lauren is successful in other extracurricular activities. She has a 3.9 GPA and is a part of the National Honor Society. She is also involved in student council and is a part of the Spanish Club.
“I love being involved in everything. I try to dedicate and fully commit myself to everything I do,” said Lauren.
