Wyandotte’s Taylor Lundien Athlete Spotlight – Presented By NEO Orthopedics & Rehabilitation

Almost every high school has a sports rival. They are that one team that when you beat them makes the victory a little bit sweeter. Taylor Lundien is an athlete at Wyandotte High School and she says that she knows exactly who that school is for her and her teammates.

“My favorite opponent to play against would be Fairland,” she said. “Mainly because of the rivalry and the eagerness from both teams to win and the crowd going crazy.”

Taylor is a senior and is a member of the Bears’ slowpitch softball team. She has also competed in powerlifting, cross country, and fastpitch softball. Outside of sports, she is involved in the student council, Students Make A Change, and the National Honor Society. She has played softball for about twelve years and has made a lot of great memories during that time.

“One thing that keeps me playing softball is the competitiveness and the friendships that come along with it. My favorite memory of competing would be my sophomore year when we won regionals and made it to state.”

Throughout her life, there have been a number of people that have been influential to her, both as a person and as an athlete.

“My teammates are my family without a doubt are my biggest role models,” she said. “I’ve played with the majority of girls for about seven years now. Definitely a hard goodbye. I look up to my older sister as a role model. She’s always known how to lead a team well and has a positive mindset. When she gets down, you would never know she was. She always strived to be better. She’s played a big role on where I’m at right now as a player and a leader.”

As she plans for the future, Taylor looks for softball to play a big part in it.

“I plan to continue my softball career at Crowder College,” she stated. “I will be majoring in business, then I hope to continue my softball career another two years after Crowder at a university.”
