QUAPAW WILDCATS
Coach: JAKE MANNING
10-2
OFFENSE
Quapaw returns seven starters on offense in 2023 under head coach Jake Manning after going 10-2 last season. “Quapaw is poised to have another great season,” Manning said. “We have seven returning starters and several players that saw significant action last season returning as well, so we will rely on that experience throughout the season. Our guys have done a really great job throughout the spring and into the summer, working to prepare themselves for the season ahead and pick up where we left off in the ’22 season.” The Wildcats will turn to senior standout receiver Zane Stand (5-7, 145) for big plays. “Zane is one of our key returning starters. As a junior, he received District A-7 honors as a WR last season and finished the season with 1,092 yards and 15 TDs on 61 receptions,” Manning said. Others expected to play significant roles are running back Kyle Forbis (5-10, 145, Sr.) and offensive linemen Caiden Porter (6-0, 235, Jr.), Brayden Rush (5-11, 285, Jr.), Riley Rogers (6-0, 170, Jr.) and Yona Blackfox (6-0, 190, Sr.). “We will use multiple formations to deliver a balanced attack offensively,” Manning said. “We want our guys to be physical in the run game and returning several guys with experience on the offensive line will allow us to help do that.”
DEFENSE
The Wildcats return six starters on defense, one that will include 3-4 and 4-3 alignments. “We will have a lot of team speed this year and want to be physical and aggressive at every position. Our defensive coordinator, Trenton Stand, does a really great job putting our kids in positions to have success and preparing them week after week,” Manning said. “We saw a lot of great things from our kids defensively last season, and that has continued so far into this summer. Our kids wanna pick up where we left off and so far they have done a great job of doing just that.” Zane Stand and Kyle Forbis will be leaders in the secondary. Stand recorded 64 tackles, a pair of interceptions and 17 pass breakups in 2022. “Defensively, Zane has a great sense of what the offense is going to do pre-snap, which allows him to anticipate things very well and find himself around the football,” Manning said. Caiden Porter, Will Miller (5-7, 150, Sr.), Jackson Myrick (6-0, 160, Jr.) and Kolton Neal (5-7, 145, Sr.) will give Quapaw a strong foundation on the second level of the defense as linebackers.
