Miami’s Zander Clark – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Jim Rexwinkle State Farm

By Payton Moody

Miami High School has a new rising star on the football field – junior Zander Clark. With stats that prove his prowess on the gridiron and an unwavering dedication to the sport, Clark is making a name for himself in the world of high school football.

Every athlete has that one coach who leaves an incredible mark on their journey. “He’s pushed me every day in the weight room and on the football field,” Clark said. This motivation from Coach Gardner has been a driving force behind Clark’s impressive performance on the field.

While there may not be a specific teammate Clark admires, he credits the entire team for their unwavering support. Football is the epitome of teamwork, and Clark understands the importance of each player’s contribution to the team’s success.

Off the field, Mrs. Williams, one of his teachers, has been instrumental in his life. “She would always be right there to help me through or with anything I need,” Clark said.

Clark’s dedication to improvement shines through in his off-season efforts. He attended numerous summer workouts, practices, and camps, ensuring he’s at the top of his game for the upcoming season.

Beyond the touchdowns and tackles, football has taught Clark invaluable life lessons. “Football has taught me that there isn’t just ‘you’ when you’re working as a team. Everyone needs to contribute to succeed in everyday life,” he reflects.

One of Clark’s fondest memories is making the playoffs as a sophomore, marking a historic moment for Miami High School football. It was the first time they had made it to the playoffs since 2008, a testament to Clark’s commitment and the team’s hard work.

This season, Clark has his sights set on the playoffs again. He hopes not only to qualify but also to host a playoff game, raising the bar for his team and the Miami community.
