Vinita Girls Basketball Team Preview – Presented by Welch State Bank of Vinita

VINITA LADY HORNETS

GIRLS

Coach: Nathan Wylie

22-23 Record: 9-17

The Lady Hornets are ready to put last season’s 9-17 record behind them and start fresh this season. Head coach Nathan Wylie says that his squad did not lose anyone from last year’s team and that experience will be vital with the competition they will be facing. “We return everyone this season,” he said. “We should be decent this season, but our conference is tough.” One player that will play a key role for the Lady Hornets this season is Emma Pigeon. She is one of Vinita’s best players. She can shoot the three and really defend well. She brings a lot to the table with her athleticism. She is a junior, a three-year starter, and a good kid who has overcome a lot. Another player that will look to make an impact this season is Sara Hency. She is a sophomore post that can shoot from the outside. She is a strong kid, can use both hands and is a physical player. Two other bigtime contributors on both sides of the ball are Addison Osburn and Haiden Smoke. Addi is a really solid player who is a great defender, while Haiden is a rebounding machine. They are both juniors and will be a big part of the team’s success this season. Other Lady Hornets that will work to play a role this season are Tierany Trail, Brooklyn Pitts, Calleigh Williams, Lauren Fraley, Alexis Currie, Ella Tyrrell, Dakota Smith, Jaidyn Bartley, Jaycee Hensley, Lily Willis-Youngbear, and Keslie Lazarine.
