Grand Lake Area Baseball and Soccer Players to Watch Presented by Eye Care of Grand Lake

Jayce Baser – Grove

Jayce is an outstanding baseball player and will play a key role for the Ridgerunners this season on the diamond.

Cody Whitlock – Jay

On and off the field, Whitlock is a great kid that is a great example to the younger players. He puts in the hard work and is always ready to help his team.

Nick Martins – Vinita

Martins is looking to have a solid season. His leadership will help guide his team.

Deighton Bellew – Welch

Deighton was the team’s ace pitcher last season, leading the team in innings pitched, wins, and strikeouts. He was also a leader on the offensive side of the game, leading the team with a .354 batting average, with 17 hits, 15 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases. He also scored 15 runs, which was second on the team.

Jayce Kihenia – Wyandotte

Jayce is a hard worker and will have an impact on the season for Wyandotte. He should make big contributions on defense and at the plate this season.

Mykahl Dunn – Commerce Boys

Mykahl is a two-year starter who consistently works hard to perfect his game. His passion for soccer, hard work, knowledge of the game, and team-first attitude make him a great example to others on and off the field.

Avery Durham – Commerce Girls

In just two years on the high school team, Avery has become a standout with her skills and dedication. Even though she is a younger player, her hard work and improvement make her someone you will want to look for in the seasons to come.

Abigail Dyer and Madelyn Kitchen – Grove Girls

Abigail has been the defensive MVP the last two seasons. She has been a leader both at practice and on game day. This year she will be a key player for us to win the middle of the field and control the game. She will also play a key part in helping our younger players get adjusted to the HS level of play. Madelyn has been one of the best attackers in the state since her freshman year. She has been the team’s leading scorer all three seasons, tallying 51 career goals and 18 assists. She looks to add to her all-time goal record at Grove, and hopes to beat her own record for most goals in a season at Grove (23 goals in 2022).

Shane Douthit – Miami

A three year starter, and a three year all-district player. 2022 Noble Rose Rock All-Tournament Team. Also was the kicker for the Wardog football team. Plans to kick in college.
