Jay’s Madison King Athlete Spotlight Presented by Comforting Hands Hospice

Jay High School

The emergence of the Jay High School girls wrestling team has become a fan favorite for Jay fans. The tough, physical girls are making a lot of noise on the mat and one wrestler who is helping the program reach new heights is Madison King.

King is a junior this season and in her second year of wrestling. Despite not having a ton of experience, King has shown she is willing to learn and is absorbing everything thrown at her. King is setting big goals for herself and the team.

“My goal is to be a state qualifier and possibly a state placer this year,” said King. “I believe that our team is very tough even with the new teammates this year. I think we will all go far.”

Being a student-athlete for Jay High School has been special for King thanks to her teammates and the coaching staff.

“I love being a student-athlete in Jay because my teammates are also my friends, we all work hard together to hold one another accountable and the coaches put in the work to help us become the best athletes,” said King. “I love how supportive we are and how we build each other up no matter what.”

King is not only making the grade on the mat, but she is also doing great in the classroom as well. King is a member of various clubs and organizations at school and at her vocational school.

“I belong to National Honor Society, both as school and Vo-Tech. I’m also a member of STUCO, FOMC, FCCLA, and FCS,” said King.

The junior said math is her favorite subject and coach Warren is her favorite teacher. King said she plans to pursue a degree after high school.

“After I graduate, I would like to open a salon to pursue my degree in cosmetology,” said King. In her free time King said she enjoys spending time with family and hanging out with her friends.
