As the season inches closer to post season play, the Vinita Lady Hornets are working hard to grab a spot in the tournament. Junior guard Emma Pigeon said the team is pushing themselves to make the rest of the season a memorable one.

“My goal for the rest of the season is that I work as hard as I can even when I’m tired and to work with my teammates and get wins. This season so far has been good. We’ve been through some ups and downs, but we always pull through as a team,” said Pidgeon.

Pigeon is close to her teammates and said collectively they push each other to continue to improve and win games.

“I love the accountability being a student-athlete gives and as well as the friendships it gives me,” said Pigeon. “I love how close me, and my teammates are and how we always work together.”

As a guard, Pigeon said she is always working on multiple aspects of her game and this season she is seeing improvements.

“My shots and my driving are improving,” said Pigeon.

At Vinita High School, Pigeon is part of the Student Council and the Art Club. In the classroom, Pigeon said there is one subject she enjoys a little more than the rest.

“My favorite subject is English, and my favorite teacher is Ms. Stecklein,” said Pigeon. After I graduate, I want to either have my own salon or be a part of one and work my way up to my own.”

In her free time, Pigeon said she enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, and getting extra shots up at the gym.
