9 Questions with Afton’s Chandler Ervin Presented by NEO Orthopedics & Rehabilitation

Chandler Ervin

Afton High School

VYPE: Chandler, how long have you competed in track and what events are you competing in this season?

Ervin: I’ve ran track for eight years, I’m in the 4×100 relay, the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.

VYPE: Tell me about your teammates. Who is the toughest, who is the funniest, and who is the most serious person on the team?

Ervin: I think Lyndee Mikesell is our toughest athlete, she does everything our coach asks her to do with the best of her ability. Chloe Church keeps us all laughing during practices, bus drives, and track meets. I would say I’m probably the most serious on the team.

VYPE: What do you enjoy most about being a student-athlete at Afton HS?

Ervin: I enjoy being a part of a family the most about being a student-athlete.

VYPE: Do play any other sports for Afton?

Ervin: I play softball, fast and slow pitch as well as powerlifting.

VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate high school?

Ervin: After I graduate, I would like to get a PHD in marine biology.

VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life, on or off the track?

Ervin: The biggest influence in my life is my dad.

VYPE: Who are a couple of teammates everyone should watch this season?

Ervin: Someone you should look out for is Lyndee Mikesell and Samantha Mantooth this season.

VYPE: Is there an athlete that you look up to?

Ervin: I look up to Lauren Burke not only in her athletic ability but also her faith with God.

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Ervin: I enjoy hanging out with my family on my free time.
