Q & A with Grove’s Jayce Baser Athlete Spotlight Presented by Eye Care of Grand Lake

Jayce Baser

Grove High School

VYPE: Who is your favorite player in Major League Baseball?

Baser: Bryce Harper has always been one of my favorites.

VYPE: How does the Grove High School team look this season?

Baser: This team has a lot of potential and are improving every day. Though they have big shoes to fill I think they are more than capable.

VYPE: What has the season been like for you personally?

Baser: This year has been a little different for me not being able to play the field and only DH with injuries, but I have learned how to have an impact in other ways. My vocal leadership has far and away improved the most allowing me to help push our young team.

VYPE: What do you love about this group of guys?

Baser: What I love most about my teammates is our ability to have fun. There is never a dull moment with them.

VYPE: Give me your favorite memory as a Ridgerunner.

Baser: Being a part of a great group of guys and winning our regional last year. Then getting the opportunity to go compete for a state championship.

VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate?

Baser: I’m going to go to Southwest Baptist University to further my education and play ball.

VYPE: How long have you played baseball?

Baser: I have played baseball for 14 years.

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Baser: I enjoy in my free time fishing and golfing.

VYPE: What do you love most about GHS? Baser: What I love most about being a student-athlete at Grove HS is the opportunity to compete for my school.
