Avery Vaughn

Ketchum High School

VYPE: Avery, what grade are you in at Ketchum High School and how long have you played softball? 

Vaughn: I am in 9th grade, and I’ve been playing school softball for four years, but I played in little league for many years before that. 

VYPE: How is the season going? 

Vaughn: Our team isn’t doing too good this slow-pitch season, but we have improved tremendous amounts from our first game. 

VYPE: What makes this group of teammates special to you? 

Vaughn: I love that my teammates are so supportive. If I make any errors or strike out, they will always have my back and lift me up. 

VYPE: What teammates do you feel are having great seasons? 

Vaughn: The softball teammate that impressed me the most is Kylee Herndon. She is amazing and infield and outfield and will never be afraid to dive. The teammate that never fails to make me laugh is Mckynzi Brown. She will turn any serious or awkward situation into a good laugh and always has a smile on her face. 
 

VYPE: Is there a game or moment that stands out for you this season? 

Vaughn: My favorite memory is when we played our last home fast pitch game against Wyandotte, and it was pouring rain. After, the team all went to go eat Mexican after in our soaking wet uniforms. 
 

VYPE: Are you involved with any clubs or groups at school? 

Vaughn: Yes, I am a member of student council. 
 

VYPE: Tell me the best thing about being an athlete at KHS? 

Vaughn: I love being a student-athlete at KHS because my friends and coaches are so supportive, and I’m treated like family here. 
 
 VYPE: Any plans for life after high school yet? 

Vaughn: I’m not quite sure what I want to do after I graduate, but I think I want to go to college to practice dentistry and soon become an orthodontist. 
 VYPE: What can we find you doing when you’re not on the softball field? 
 Vaughn: In my free time, I like to go out on the lake and wakeboard.
