Vinita’s Jett Ogdon Athlete Spotlight Presented by Patrick Kauffman Shelter Insurance

Jett Ogdon

Vinita High School

Anyone familiar with Vinita athletics has heard the name Jett Ogdon. The three-sport student-athlete of Vinita High School has taken his talents to the golf course to try and help the golf team for his senior year. Ogdon brings a toughness and determination to the course.

Now a senior, Ogdon did skip a year of golf to focus on other things.

“I’ve been playing since freshman year but took my sophomore year off. Really the only thing I do in my free time these days is play golf,” said Ogdon.

The football, basketball, and golf standout said this season, things have gone well on the course, and he is looking forward to more tournaments.

“I shot a 76 last week at Flint Ridge in a tournament but the best I’ve ever shot is 75, and on nine holes 35. Last tournament we placed fourth and we have the ability to go low if everyone plays good. I’ve really improved my putting. Haven’t had many three puts this year,” said Ogdon.

This group of golfers for Vinita continues to improve and the team chemistry is at an all-time high.

“My teammates make being a student athlete fun at Vinita. My teammates are my friends out of school so whenever we’re not playing for the school we’re hanging out or playing on our own,” said Ogdon.

The senior is a member of National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athlete, Senior Rotarian, Indian Honor Society, and plans to attend college somewhat close to home.

“I would like to play golf if I had the opportunity somewhere but if not, I am planning on attending Roger’s State University for construction engineering,” said Ogdon.
In his free time, you can probably find Ogdon playing his favorite course, Peoria Ridge in his hometown.
