Commerce’s Gracen Shelton – Football Spotlight – Presented by Absolute Royalty Roofing

Gracen Shelton

Commerce High School

Playing the position of quarterback requires a player to accept a certain level of responsibility and leadership on and off the field. Commerce High School’s Gracen Shelton embraces both as a senior.

Shelton started playing football early in elementary school, but it’s not the only sport he plays at CHS.

“I started playing football in first grade and I’ve been playing basketball for CHS the last four years,” Shelton said. “It takes coming every day with a positive attitude and the action of guiding them to play their best.”

At the time of this printing, Commerce is 2-0 with wins over Fairland and Oklahoma Union. Shelton said he’s been impressed with his teammates despite losing a lot of seniors from last years team.

“Even though we lost a big group of seniors, we come every day and put in the work. Landon Brenner, he had a rough year last year. This year he comes day in and day out and puts in the work. That’s why he is a captain as a junior,” said Shelton. “Juan Gomez keeps everyone with a smile on their faces and the most serious is Seth Bonham and I don’t know how because they both are best friends.”

Shelton said his father has been a big influence in his life and has taught him the value of having a good work ethic. Shelton is undecided on his plans after high school, but he is looking at his options. For now, the senior is focused on making the most of every snap on the field and bringing home as many wins as possible.

In his free time, you will find Shelton spending time with his girlfriend Kennedy or playing golf with his friends.
