Lauren Fraley

Vinita High School

VYPE: Lauren, how is the season going for the Vinita cross country team?

Lauren Fraley: This season our XC team is full of talented young girls who have the potential to be amazing runners.

VYPE: What is your favorite memory while competing for VHS?
LF: My favorite memory as a student-athlete for VHS was definitely my freshman year going to track state! It was so exciting and an amazing experience.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite subject in school or a favorite teacher?
LF: My favorite subject in school is English, but my favorite teacher in school is Mr. Garret Maxey.

VYPE: What makes being a Lady Hornet special for you?
LF: The community support as well as the school faculty support makes me as a student athlete keep going!

VYPE: Do you have a favorite place to compete?
LF: My favorite place to compete is on the track!

VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing and who is the most serious?
LF: The teammate who keeps everyone laughing is definitely me, but the most serious teammate switches every day.

VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
LF: Every time before I race, I will mentally prepare myself by praying. God is the one person who I can always lean on, and he is the one who’s got my back through the entire thing. During the run I just focus on my breathing and trying to catch girls one by one.

VYPE: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
LF: The best advice I have ever received was that your matter is not in a medal, it is in your relationship with God, so just do your best and God will always be proud of you.

VYPE: What is your goal for life after you graduate?
LF: My goal for life after high school is going to college on a track scholarship and studying criminal psychology.
