9 Questions with Jay’s Zariah Kingfisher – Presented by Eye Care of Grand Lake

VYPE: What grade are you currently in and how long have you been playing softball? 

Zariah Kingfisher: I’m currently in the ninth grade at Jay High School and I’ve been playing softball since I was four years old.

VYPE: What position do you play and what position would you like to play?

ZK: The position I play is left field. The position I would like to play is center field.

VYPE: What is your thought process at the plate?

ZK: My thought process at the plate is telling myself to get a base hit.

VYPE: What are your favorite pregame and postgame meals?

ZK: My favorite pregame and postgame meal is Subway.

VYPE: What is your favorite place to play and why?

ZK: My favorite place to play is Jay because we don’t have long drives.

VYPE: What makes being a student-athlete at Jay special to you?

ZK: Being a student-athlete at Jay is special to me because I’m able to play the sport I love and represent the Jay Lady Bulldogs.

VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life and why?

ZK: The person that influenced me the most is my mom because she was a great ball player and inspired me to become one.

VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?

ZK: What I love the most about my teammates is that they are always laughing and that they are always encouraging me every step of the way.

VYPE: Who on the team keeps everyone laughing, who is the most serious, and who has the best impression of your coach?

ZK: The person on the team that keeps everyone laughing is Keeley Welch because she is always happy. The most serious on the team is Kyler Howe because she takes the game very seriously. The person who has the best impression of the coaches is Mikenna Moffett.
