OFFENSE
The Wildcats return nine starters from last season plus four more with considerable playing time. According to coach Manning, his team has quite a bit of team speed and pridet hemselves in their physicality. “We won’t have the size that some of our other district matchups will have but we have been preaching to our guys about playing fast and physical.” Offensively they will operate out of the spread, with Austin Lake (5-11, 160, Sr.) being the trigger man at quarterback. Last season Lake had 1,575 yards passing, 620 rushing and 21 touchdowns. His go-to targets will be Jaxon Myrick (6-0, 165, Sr.) who had 300 yards receiving last year with two touchdowns and Ayden Bruton (6-0 150 Jr.) who had over 100 yards in receptions last year. Coach said both of those players have done a great job on the offensive side of the ball as far as guiding some of the younger players and are really competing at a high level. The line has multiple seniors including Derek Pittman (6-0, 200), Bristol Berryman (5-11, 180), Braydon Rush (5-11, 265), Rylee Rogers, (6-0,190), Keegan Hart, (6-0, 190) and Connor Fox (6-3, 185).
DEFENSE
On the defensive side of the ball, where they Wildcats will use a 3-4/4-3 scheme. Manning had praise for linebacker Caiden Porter (6-2, 230, Sr.) who had 98 tackles and four sacks last season. “Caiden Porter has been our most vocal guy. He has been in the middle of our defense for several years and is kind of a spark plug for us energy wise.” Pittman, who will be joining him at linebacker tallied 50 tackles last season. Kolt Thomasson (5-9, 230, So.) will join a group of seniors on the defensive line. Some newcomers to keep an eye on will be Sam Millard (6-2, 200, So.), Parker Jordan (6-0- 185, So.) and Jace Gregory (6-0, 165 Jr.). Manning also mentioned Trace Mathews (6-0, 160, Sr.) who played last year at Wyandotte as doing a great job so far at picking up a new scheme and helping some of the younger guys with things on both sides of the ball. Mathews is slotted see time at wide receiver and defensive back
