2026 Fairland Owls Football Preview – Presented by Grand Savings Bank

FAIRLAND OWLS
Coach: TRAVIS RHATIGAN
10-3

Fairland will debut a new head coach and an aggressive, high flying identity built around a true spread passing attack. Rhatigan plans to “implement an innovative offensive strategy centered around a dynamic Spread passing attack” featuring three to five receivers stretching the field horizontally and vertically to create explosive plays and keep defenses off balance. Coming off a 10 win season with five offensive starters returning, the Owls expect to marry that scheme with a strong senior core up front.

The offense will lean on size and experience in the trenches and quickness on the perimeter. The base is a spread passing system emphasizing quick, precise routes, multiple formations, motion and play action, with an emphasis on fast quarterback decisions and sharp route running to find soft spots in coverage. Senior tackle/DE/punter Carter Ramsey (6 4, 255), a Top 100 nominee, anchors the line along with guard/tackle Tucker Ortner and center/linebacker Ethan Sparks, while twins Grant and Gavin Koronis and tailback/linebacker Bennet Cepeda headline the skill group. Ramsey is praised for his speed, strength, offseason commitment and leadership, and is expected to be a dominant two way force.

Defensively, Fairland will line up in a 3 2 5 nickel look designed to handle both spread passing games and the run. The Owls’ base is a “3-2-5” that uses three down linemen to disrupt the run and two inside linebackers to support both run and coverage, creating a stout six man box. Cepeda is the motor on defense and someone who can make a big impact at linebacker. Sparks will provide physical play at linebacker giving the Owls two players in the middle of the defense who bring the heat every play. Five defensive backs, including the Koronis brothers, will focus on neutralizing passing threats and allowing the scheme to adapt to different offensive styles. With only one defensive starter officially listed as returning, the staff will be counting on Ramsey, Ortner, and new contributors to grow quickly into their roles.
