Karlie Cooper, a spirited cheerleader at Miami High School, embodies the essence of school spirit and teamwork. With her dedication to cheerleading and a heart full of passion, she is making a lasting impact on her squad and the entire school community.

When asked about her favorite coach, Cooper lights up as she mentions Lindsey Chism, her cheer coach. “Coach Chism always encourages me to do my best and helps me strive to be better,” Cooper explains. A great coach can make all the difference in an athlete’s journey, and Coach Chism’s guidance and support have undoubtedly helped Cooper become the cheerleader she is today.

Teammates play a crucial role in any sport, and Cooper is fortunate to have friends like Reinee McClintic and Maddi Reed by her side. “They are my best friends, they always cheer me on, and they keep me going,” she said.

In the realm of academics, Cooper’s favorite teacher, Mrs. Windle, holds a special place in her heart. “She is the sweetest person and is such a great help,” Cooper notes.

Cooper’s dedication to her sport is evident in her offseason preparations. “I’ve been stretching every day, attending cheer practice, and going to tumbling class with our assistant coach,” she said.

Beyond the cheers and routines, cheerleading has taught Cooper valuable life lessons. “Cheer has taught me how to be a leader, how to work well with others, use communication, and to give your all,” she said.

One of Cooper’s fondest memories in cheerleading comes from a recent camp experience. “When we performed, it was a moment for all of us to get closer,” she recalls. These shared moments of success and teamwork forge bonds that last a lifetime.

Looking ahead to the current season, Cooper has both individual and team goals. “I hope to succeed and win state, and I hope to make all-state,” she says with determination, setting her sights high.

As for her plans after high school, Cooper aspires to continue her cheerleading journey at NEO (Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College). Her passion for cheerleading and her commitment to her team and school community make her a shining example of the positive impact of high school athletics.
