Entering his second season running the boys basketball program at Afton High School, head coach Bryson Cottrell said the team is coming together and he’s excited to see what they can accomplish this year.
“I am excited for this upcoming season, and we bring back three of five starters and have underclassmen who are ready to step into new roles on this team,” coach Cottrell said.
One player the Afton faithful are familiar with is Aiden Victor (Jr.). A pure shooter and an athletic playmaker on both ends of the court, Victor averaged 23 points a game last season as a sophomore. Thanks to his offensive output last season, Victor was named to the VYPE Top 100 pre-season list, which places him in the running for the Mr. Basketball Oklahoma award given at the end of the season.
Despite lacking a large group of upperclassmen, coach Cottrell is confident he has the team to be competitive and move the program forward.
“We will have no seniors on this team so we are going to gain a lot of experience and hopefully build off the back of this group and lay the foundation for Afton Basketball,” coach Cottrell said.
