COMMERCE TIGERS

Coach: LOGAN CAWYER

5-5

OFFENSE

The Tigers are a little younger this season and head coach Logan Cawyer is focused on bringing the young players up to speed and helping them mature into their new roles. “We are a pretty young team. We graduated 12 seniors last year. We have some skill kids coming back that will contribute on both sides of the ball. We need to fill in some spots on the offensive and defensive line,” said Cawyer. Quarterback Gracen Shelton (5-11, 170, Sr.) will run the multiple set offense utilizing some one and two back sets. Shelton has the speed and the arm to move the chains. Running back Keylen White (5-10, 180, Jr.) is a VYPE Top 100 selectee and someone the team can depend on for positive plays. Braxton Wright (5-10, 165, Jr.) adds depth to the running back position and is a nice complement to White. William Convirs (5-9, 150, Jr.) and Brice Busby (6-0, 170, Sr.) start at wide receiver where they can stretch the field and provide Shelton with two targets downfield. Kamden Poteet (6-3, 300, Sr.) is the cornerstone of the offensive line.

DEFENSE

Brody Jones (6-1, 185, Jr.), Landon Brenner (5-8, 190, Jr.), and Jeremy Wallin (5-10, 165, Sr.) lead the way at linebacker in the 4-3 and 3-4 schemes the Tigers will run this season. This trio is tough to stop when they pin their ears back and play with their hair on fire. A young defensive end will turn some heads this season. Seth Bonham (6-2, 215, So.) gained some experience as a freshman, and will help the Tigers this season on both sides of the ball. Juan Gomez (5-8, 165, So.) is a quick, hard-hitting strong safety who can support stopping the run. Also look for Jonas Shelton (6-0, 180, Jr.) at defensive end who could have a big year. Bonham will get a lot of attention and it could free up Shelton for more one-on-one battles off the edge. The coaching staff includes Matt Poteet (OL), John Medlin (DB), Craig Hood (LB), and Billie Ellick (DL).
