2025 Fairland Owls – Football Preview – Presented by Grand Savings Bank

FAIRLAND OWLS

Coach: RYAN LAVERTY

3-7

OFFENSE

In his second year as head coach, Ryan Laverty is excited to return a large class of seniors who are hungry to make their final year of prep football a memorable one. “Could be a breakout season with 17 seniors returning, many of which are 3-year starters,” said coach Laverty. Joining coach Laverty’s coaching staff are Justin Goins, Bobby Crawford, Keenan Webb, and Kyle Hostetter. The offense features four-year starter Carson Schertz (6-4, 210, Sr.) at quarterback. Last season Schertz completed 124 of 208 passes for over 2,000 yards and 13 touchdowns through the air. He also rushed 55 times for 405 yards and 11 TDs. Schertz will run the spread, shotgun offense utilizing running back Caine Bowers (5-10, 190, Sr.) to move the chains in the run game. Wide receivers Colt Kinsey (6-3, 180, Sr.) and Max Stephens (5-8, 145, Sr.) alongside tight end Witton Amos (6-1, 230, Sr.) are key figures in the passing game. The offensive line features Carter Ramsey (6-5, 250, Jr.) who will lead the offensive linemen and help younger players mature into roles as starters.

DEFENSE

With ten starters returning to the defensive side of the ball, the Owls are poised for a great season in the odd stack defense the team will base in this season. Schertz will start at free safety where he is one of the top safeties in the class. The secondary also features Bostyn Stephens (5-7, 150, Jr.) and Logan Sparks (5-9, 160, Sr.) giving the Owls one of the top defensive backfields in the class. Bowers will move to outside linebacker where his speed and physicality come into play. Kameron Rollins (6-2, 200, Sr.) will join Bowers at linebacker. Rollins is a big linebacker who can fight off guards and work to meet the ball carrier. Defensive end Dylan Holum (6-3, 205, Jr.) will set the edge and pursue the opposing QB with good speed and ability to get to the ball. Ramsey will likely see time on the defensive line as well. Bryce Davis started as a freshman and continues to work hard to be a starter for the Owls.
