FAIRLAND OWLS
BOYS
Coach: Grant Callison
22-23 Record: 16-10
Grant Callison takes over the Fairland basketball program with assistant coaches Josh Schertz and Keenan Webb. They inherit a team that went 16-10 last year and three starters who helped the Owls to the Area tournament last season. “We were beat out the Friday of the Area Tournament a year ago. We return our three leading scorers from a year ago. We will only have one senior on the roster this season and one junior. We will be made up mostly freshmen and sophomores. We feel great about our team in 2A this year and feel we have a chance to make some noise this year,” said Callison. Cason Renfro (5-9, Sr.) averaged 10 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals last season and returns to play his shooting guard spot. Carson Schertz (6-5, So.) returns as the teams leading scorer averaging 19 points per contest as a freshman. MarKeen Webb (5-7, Jr.) is an athletic point guard who averaged 14 points last season. Webb is quick with the ball and has an excellent mid-range jumper. Both Renfro and Webb are VYPE Top 100 nominees. Schertz day will come. He is one of the top players in the class according to Callison and continues to develop and grow. Another athletic player to watch is Gabe Callison (Fr.). The freshman is a good shooter and is expected to contribute this season. Also look for Max Stephens, who besides being class president, is a leader on and off the gym floor and is the inspirational leader of the team.
