Fairland’s Hunter Kosted – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Marsh Point Management

Hunter Kosted is a no-nonsense senior at Fairland High School who is all about playing the sports he loves with his friends. This student athlete mostly plays football, but he also does power lifting along with being able to keep up with all the schoolwork that being a senior requires. Hunter’s favorite place to be on the football field is playing center, it is what he knows and is best at. Being able to excel in that position is important to him because he enjoys helping to lead the offensive line of his team down the field. You can catch Hunter and his teammates after Friday games enjoying burgers and ice cream at their local Braum’s, which is one of Hunter’s favorite parts of being on the team. This often-celebratorymeal helped the team build camaraderie and one can imagine has inspired many a memorable experience for all of those who have gotten to take part. His proudest memory, though, he said would have to be “…beating Ketchum to go to the playoff for the first time in 15 years.” This notable achievement was something they had all been working towards and he was so excited they were able to meet that goal.

When it comes to academics, Hunter’s hard work shines through as well. He says that math is his favorite subject, he looks forward to that class the most when he is in school. When asked if he had a favorite teacher, Hunter replied that Shandy Bowers would best fit that description. The person who inspires him the most is his great grandfather because of everything he has done and continues to do for their family as well as being an important role model in his life. Plus, he gives the best advice according to Hunter. One of his teammates that has also inspired him is Brion Padberg, because he took him ‘under his wing’ when he was starting out as a freshman and taught him a lot about being a good team player.

Hunter’s favorite part about able to represent Fairland High is by “…going out and getting our team and school wins, making us look good and making the kids want to play.” One of his most memorable quotes is from Coach Webb, “We gonna be alright,” because the mantra has gotten them through both the good and bad as a team. This kind of optimism is admirable, and Hunter is a great student athlete with a bright future. Along with football, power lifting and academics Hunter is also involved with their FCCLA chapter. He would like to shout out Coach Marshal and Webb as well as Winter and Hudson.
