The nonstop movement and passing in soccer set the pace for a sport that is never slow. Allie Hasselman thrives on the constant motion of the game.

She is a junior proudly representing Grove High School as an athlete. She runs track and plays soccer. When competing, she is not only trying to win for herself. She wants to win for her school.

“I am passionate about my sport because it has always been a part of my life since I was little and I also love the discipline it requires,” she said.

When Hasselman was three, her mom thought playing soccer would help with coordination. It certainly did that and much more. Working with different people is a valuable skill she learned playing soccer. This experience taught her to be a true team player.

“My favorite part about being on a team is that I’m not alone. You get to win together, lose together and there’s really something special about that,” Hasselman said.

As a freshman, Hasselman admired her teammate, Maddie Kitchen. Kitchen had a high soccer IQ, giving her someone to look up to and learn from.
“The best advice I have ever received is to go all in with God and to dedicate my youth years to Him,” says Hasselman, “Jesus inspires me the most because He has saved my life and has given me a brand-new heart.”

Hasselman is also thankful to her mom for every sacrifice she made for her and for supporting her in all areas of life, not just sports.

Off the soccer field, Hasselman has many other interests, including traveling.

“My most memorable vacation was going on a school trip to Europe with some great people. We visited Switzerland, Italy and France. The whole experience was surreal.
“I’m not sure if this is a hobby, but I love listening to podcasts in my free time. In school

I love all my teachers, but my favorite subject would have to be English because I enjoy analyzing and reading things,” Hasselman said.

After high school, she hopes to earn her bachelor’s degree while running track in college.
