Elliot Geer

When the Lady Ridgerunners take this field this season senior outfielder Elliot Geer will be in her final season of prep softball. For Geer, softball is one of three sports she plays at Grove High School.
“Grove has coaches that push you to be your best. I play three sports and all my coaches have high expectations of their athletes. Our teachers also contribute to Grove’s success, they are extremely supportive and have three tutoring times throughout the day to help with any late work,” Geer said. “I only started playing softball in the seventh grade and basketball has been my main love since YMCA ball. However, what I love about softball is how enjoyable it is. Going up to the batting cages with my teammates is always a great time.”
Throughout her softball career, Geer has been willing to do whatever the team needs to be successful.
“I have enjoyed how much I have grown. Freshman year, all I did was run bases for our pitcher. But I think watching improved my knowledge of the game and now as a senior I understand so much more,” Geer said. “Our team is very young this year, so of course we will have some growing pains. But, I am so excited to see how we will come together and how our younger girls will step up and contribute to our team.”
Geer was quick to mention her teammates including a newcomer playing varsity for the first time.
“Look out for Kinsey Guinn. She is only a freshman, but she has already brought so much to our team, and we need her on the field. She is such a hard worker, which is what I love most about her,” said Geer.
In the classroom, Geer said her favorite class is history.
“I love history so much and our AP History teacher, Mr. Sadler teaches in a way that emphasizes the importance of learning history. But my favorite teacher would be Mrs. Tharp, she was my chemistry teacher and has helped me with homework and taking the ACT. She is just awesome. I would like to study marine transportation at the United States Merchant Marine Academy or marine and environmental sciences at the Coast Guard Academy,” said Geer.
Geer is involved in National Honor Society, Heritage Club, Interact, Character Counts, Student Council, and she is the president of the senior class.
