Grove High School
When the Ridgerunners take the field for the 2023 season, senior Scott Cox will be a starter on the offensive and defensive lines. Cox said football has been his sport of choice since elementary school.
“Football has always been my number one sport, ever since I started in fourth grade,” said Cox. “The thing I have enjoyed the most about being on the football team is the brotherhood we all have; we always push each other and are always there to back each other up.”
After a 12-1 season last year, very few teams will look past Grove, but Cox is looking forward to the challenge of another tough schedule.
“I’m the most excited about being the underdog again, I would love for our team to be more recognized, however we love being underdogs,” said Cox.
As a student, Cox said he believes Grove is a great place to be a student while participating in athletics.
“Grove is amazing place to be a student-athlete, the coaches are amazing and are always pushing us to be the best we can be,” said Cox. “My favorite subject would be math, but my favorite teacher would have to be Mr. Haynes.”
Cox said he hopes everyone pays attention to Grove this season and looks for his teammates who he feels will have big seasons.
“Look for Jackson and Jacob Gain; the twins at quarterback and wide receiver. Also, David Cox at linebacker. He’s undersized but not scared of contact, He’s a Brayden Casey 2.0,” said Cox.
