Kinsey Guinn: I’m an investigative person, so my favorite subject is science, and my favorite teacher is probably Mrs. Tharp.
VYPE: When did you start competing in basketball?
KG: I played like Rec league YMCA ball when I was really young, but I really didn’t start playing basketball competitively until seventh grade.
VYPE: What grade are you in this year and what would you like to do after you graduate?
KG: I’m in 11th grade. After I graduate, I plan to be a student athlete in college and play softball, and major in kinesiology/sports medicine
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Grove?
KG: The thing that I love most about my teammates is that we are a family. We all get along really well; we’re always laughing and full of joy. Having the feeling of every single girl being there for you is the best thing you could ever ask for in a team.
VYPE: Who inspires you? Explain.
KG: My parents have always inspired me in everything I do. They have always been there for me and shown that no matter how hard things may get, you can always persevere.
VYPE: What are your expectations for the coming season?
KG: My expectations for the upcoming season it that we win lots of games, work as a team, and ultimately make it to state!
VYPE: What other clubs or groups do you belong to at school?
KG: I also play softball and throw disc for our track team at GHS. I play travel softball for Epic Fastpitch almost year-round. I’m also involved in many clubs/organizations such as, National Honor Society [treasure], student athlete scholar, character counts club vice-president, interact club board member, math club secretary, and a representative of the class of 2027.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
KG: I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family as well as fine-tuning my skills in softball. Most of my time goes to practicing anyway. But I do a lot of extra outside of just typical practices. I also really enjoy writing.
VYPE: Which teammate is the most vocal and which teammate keeps everyone laughing?
KG: We have a lot of girls that are pretty vocal. During games, Rowen Geer gets really vocal. She’s very encouraging and will always tell you what to do if you’re confused. The most talkative and goofy teammate is Anaiyah Darnell. She is one of the funniest girls I know. There’s never a dull moment with her.
