A member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, science club and FCS, Jay High School’s Hadley Goins is also a member of the varsity cross country team.

Coming into the new season, Goins and her teammates have worked hard to prepare for the tough schedule and eventually regionals.

“The thing I enjoy the most about the cross country team is that we are close with God, and we let God carry us, and coach Buzz is just an amazing coach, and she makes it enjoyable.

Cross Country has not always been my favorite, but I grew to absolutely love it, and basketball has always been enjoyable to me as well,” Goins said. “I’m most excited for this season because I can put all my focus in running this year. We are a fun team and I’m ready to make memories with them.”

Being a student-athlete at Jay High School also means you are focused in the classroom. Something Goins takes very serious.

“Jay is a great place to be a student-athlete because of the teachers and coaches we have, they are all supportive and they push you to be your greatest at the same time,” said Goins. “My favorite subject is anything to do with chemistry and my favorite teacher is Mrs. Stapleton.”

Goins said there are several teammates on the cross country team everyone should watch this season.

“Two of my fellow teammates Madison King and Addie Dingsor are both very hardworking and determined athletes,” said Goins. “The thing I love the most about this group is the relationship we have with God and put our trust in him.”

Goins said she is excited to compete at regionals and the state meet and she wants her class to be remembered for how kind they are and how being an athlete and a student can be done at the same time. After she graduates, Goins said she plans to run in college while pursuing a degree.
