A lifelong football player, Lane Collins of Ketchum High School started playing at a young age and has continued to call the game of football his first love.
“The day I turned five years old, my dad put me on my brothers football team, and I’ve loved the game since,” said Collins.
Collins is a senior this year and will play halfback for the Warriors. Last season he rushed for more than 700 yards, helping the Warriors to a 5-5 record. But this season, Collins and his fellow seniors are looking forward to improving their record and making the playoffs.
“I’m most excited about how many kids we got and just being a captain and being able to play with the same team I have since I was in the fourth grade. We have impact teammates like Jadeon Trout, Justin Johnson, and Eli Wigglesworth,” said Collins.
Being a student-athlete at Ketchum is something Collins is proud of, and he loves representing his team on the field and in the classroom.
“Ketchum is a great place to be a student-athlete because they push you to not only be a heck of athlete, but they also teach you to be a man and be respectful to others not just be an athlete. My favorite teacher is probably coach Brown and my favorite subject is math,” said Collins.
Collins said he wants his class to be remembered for their success on the field.
“I want my class to be remembered for being the only class to make it the deep in the playoffs in the history of our program,” said Collins.
As a team, Collins said there is always something they can learn about the game and their opponents.
“The most I’ve enjoyed about playing football is learning something new every day and getting better and better while working my tail off,” Collins said. “What I love about this group of teammates is they are all bought in and ready to work at any time of the day and will sacrifice anything for you.”
Collins will play on both side of the ball for the Warriors, seeing time at middle linebacker on defense. A position he is excited to play.
“I’ll be running back and slot on offense and defense I will be middle linebacker. It means the world to me to represent Ketchum, I’m just ready to get after it,” said Collins.
