After a 24-7 season a year ago, the Miami Wardogs are poised for another excellent season under head coach Lauren Strack. An experienced pitcher in the circle, could mean the Wardogs are looking for another solid year. “With experience both in the circle and defensively around the diamond, expectations will be high for the program,” said Strack. There are several reasons for those expectations to be one the rise. Addy Douthit (So.) is an outstanding outfielder and someone who can cook around the bases. Sidney Forrester (Sr.) is a four-year starter on the Wardog infield. Forrester has been a district MVP for the past three years and helped her team to a state tournament appearance in 2022. Forrester has signed with the University of Missouri. Hayden Pilkinton (Jr.) is another infielder with two years as a starter under her belt. For two seasons, Pilkinton has grabbed district Offensive Player of the Year honors. D’Naya Green (Jr.) is the experience in the circle for Miami. Green is a two-year starter and district Player of the Year, two years running. Bailey McCarty (Sr.) is another senior looking to make the most of her last year in prep softball. McCarty is a leader on and off the field for the Wardogs. Other players to watch include Rylee Talbot (INF, Sr.), Bailee Allen (OF, Sr.), Journee Greninger (OF, Jr.), Maycee Rhinehart (OF, Jr.), Rylee Edmondson (OF, Jr.), Logan Chaney (C, Jr.), Carli Beckwith (INF, So.), Aizlyn Alsbury (INF, So.), Abby Homer (INF, So.), Zoe Moore (INF, Fr.), McKinzi Garrettson (INF, Fr.), Sarah Wolf (OF, Fr.), Mariana Searcy (INF, Fr.), Aubrie Foran (OF, Fr.), and Paisley Young (INF, Fr.).
