2024-25 Record: 10-17
OUTLOOK
This will be an important season for the Wardogs basketball program as head coach Rodney Sooter looks to continue the process of bringing the program up to standards and competing for a regular spot in post season play. As coach Sooter says, taking another step forward is the goal after winning a district championship.
“This season should see us take another step forward. Last year we were district champions and gained experience in the playoffs. We played some of our best basketball in the post season. We are extremely excited about the experience returning that includes a first team All-Conference player and three sophomores who played considerable minutes as freshmen last year,” coach Sooter said.
Waike Roblyer (6-7, Sr.) is a VYPE Top 100 selectee making his return this season for his final year of prep basketball. Last season Roblyer averaged 14.1 points and 8.8 rebounds a game. An All-Conference player, Roblyer can average a double-double and be one of the most disruptive defenders in the paint according to coach Sooter.
Also returning is Lane Walther (5-11, So.) who led the team in scoring as a freshman, averaging 14.4 points a game. Walther is a combo guard who gained 20-pounds during the offseason.
“He’s grown a few inches over the summer. He should also be a candidate to VYPE Top 100. He has the chance to be a first team All-Conference player as well and was honorable mention last season. Lane is ranked by Oklahoma Prep Hoops as the 29th best freshman in the state of Oklahoma. He shot 35% from 3-point mark and scored nearly 400 points as a freshman,” coach Sooter said.
Beckett Sooter (5-8, So.) is another player who contributes on both ends of the court. Last season Sooter averaged 9.0 points a game with 4.0 assists.
“Beckett played almost every minute of every game as a freshman. He’s a true PG with an elite ability to pass the ball. Beckett saw several games as a freshman where he also led the team in scoring. A true two-way player who can as also tasked with guarding the opposing teams best offensive player. Beckett has shown the ability to lead a team emotionally thru ups and downs and has the maturity of an upperclassman,” coach Sooter said.
Also look for Kameron Humble (6-2, So.) at forward. Humble knocked in 4.0 points with 4.0 rebounds last year and is expected to see those numbers rise as a sophomore.
