VINITA HORNETS

Coach: JIM ZICKEFOOSE

6-18

OUTLOOK

Leaning on the play of a three-year veteran at pitcher, the Vinita Hornets and head coach Jim Zickefoose are looking forward to seeing what the seniors and the underclassmen can accomplish together. “We have a good group of seniors with a talented group of freshmen that should make us much better on defense. These kids have worked hard in preparation for the upcoming year,” said Zickefoose. Pitcher Brooke Phillips (Sr.) will command the circle for Vinita and look to use her ability to throw strikes to keep Vinita in close games. Coach Zickefoose believes when Phillips is pitching, they have a shot at being victorious. An exciting young pitcher will get her turn in the circle as C.C. Carter (Fr.) gets a chance to prove herself at the varsity level. Carter could see time at catcher as well. Addison Osburn (OF/INF, Sr.),

Emma Gomez (INF, Sr.), and Cynthia Martins (INF, Sr.) are three seniors the Lady Hornets need this season. Martins battled through some injuries and is hopeful this will be her best season on the field for the Hornets. Their experience and leadership can help this team mature. Also look for Hallie Todd (OF/INF, Jr.), Larissa Esparza (INF/P, Jr.), Jaidyn Bartley (C/INF, Jr.), Briley McFarland (C/INF, Jr.), and Caylen Sparks (INF, Jr.) to be difference makers this season. The freshman class looks strong with Carter leading the way. Other players looking to get into the action are Rylee Brown (INF, Fr.), Phoenix Branch (INF/OF, Fr.), Ione Cox (OF, Fr.), Jolee Doggett (OF/INF, Fr.), Raleigh Bradshaw (INF, Fr.), and Amelia Hoskins (INF, Fr.).
