OUTLOOK
The youth movement is abound for the Welch Lady Wildcats. Head coach Shawn Goodwin commented on his teams youthful look this season.
“We will be a young team with only one senior and one junior on the squad. The remaining members will be four sophomores and three freshmen,” coach Goodwin said.
Addison Keith (5-6, Sr.) is the lone senior on the roster and someone the team can expect some quality minutes from this season. Keith will likely see time in the post where he physical style of play could lead to more rebounds. Whitley Goodwin (5-11, So.) is a VYPE Top 100 selectee and a guard with good size and range. Goodwin is considered one of the top players in the area and is expected to have a big year.
Mariah Dollison (5-6, Jr.) is another player who can battle in the post and play tight defense. Dollison and Anna Villa (5-6, So.) are two versatile players the Lady Wildcats will need this season. Villa will play forward giving the team another player who can fight for rebounds and push the ball up the court.
Other players to watch include Majen Wiegand (5-6, So.) at post, Hadley Chenoweth (5-5, Fr.) at guard, Adalyn McCord (5-10, Fr.) at post and Caidence Gomes (5-6, Fr.) at post. Chenoweth has a high ceiling while McCord has good size and the potential to develop into a strong player.
