WELCH WILDCATS
Coach: RYAN GLEAVES
10-2
OFFENSE
With several key players making their return to the lineup this season, head coach Ryan Gleaves is excited to build off the success of last season. “We return a good group of players that have logged significant playing time the last three years. They learned a lot from last year’s group of seniors and are hungry to take on the leadership roles. We should be able to continue to perform at a high level and hopefully make a run in the playoffs,” said coach Gleaves. Running back Eric Pitcher (5-9, 175, Sr.) will be a key component in the offense, balancing out the spread attack with a solid run game. Pitcher could have his best season yet. Thomas Ashworth (6-0, 230, Jr.) is the offensive lineman charged with helping a few underclassmen mature and play at a high level. Ashworth has a high motor and loves playing the game. Dakota Bidwell (6-1,170, Sr.) is back in the passing game for the Wildcats, giving the offense some length at the WR position. Joseph Clinton (6-0, 150, Jr.) will run the spread offense for coach Gleaves. Clinton can hurt you with his arm or legs.
DEFENSE
Look for Ashworth to go both ways for the Wildcats, moving to the defensive line and giving the Wildcats a player who can pressure up the middle. Bidwell will start in the secondary with Clinton, which will allow the linebackers like Pitcher to focus on stopping the run. Colton Moss missed last season due to injury. Moss will see time at running back and linebacker, giving the Wildcats a two-way player with good speed and passion for the game. “We are looking forward to seeing Colton back on the field for us this year,” said coach Gleaves.
