When Tayton Threet steps onto the baseball diamond he knows his friends and family are out there watching him play. Striving to make them proud and be an asset to his team is a big motivator for this senior at Wyandotte High School.
“Baseball has taught me to never hold back and keep going until the end,” Threet says.
His favorite part about being on the team is having fun with friends and coaches. While fun, Threet will never take for granted the hard work he puts into baseball or the athletic ability he was born with.
“I am passionate about my sport because God has gifted me the athleticism to be great and I will not take it for granted,” he said.
Being on the baseball team allows Threet to show everyone at WHS how much he loves the game. He wants his efforts on the field to help put Wyandotte on the map.
“My favorite memory was the first home run I ever hit in a game. It was a surreal experience,” Threet said.
Like many kids, Threet’s introduction to baseball began on the T-ball field. His dad signed him up as a five-year-old and he has never looked back. He is forever thankful to God, his family and his “beautiful” girlfriend for all the support they have given to help him fulfill his goals.
His dad is the person he looks up to the most and finds inspiration in. Making his dad proud is something Threet works to do every day and in every game.
“He has been with me my whole journey and I want to make him proud,” Threet said.
The teammate who stands out is Evan Brown. Threet recalls how Brown left an impression because he was such a hard worker who never stopped grinding. When it comes to the classroom, Threet’s favorite teacher is Coach Harris. A subject he likes and is good at is English.
He also loves the outdoors. Fly fishing with his best friend, Hagen and Hagen’s dad is one of the best ways to spend his free time.
“I love to go fly fishing. A couple of years ago I caught a big, beautiful brown trout,” he recalls.
Threet plans to continue playing baseball in college and become an electrical lineman.
