VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Zach: My favorite part about being on a team is how they are always cheering me on. Either watching or on a court right next to me.
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
Zach: I kind of just went out with a friend not knowing anything about tennis, and she gave me a little lesson. Then I went to a few summer practices, and this is my second year. I started going into my ninth-grade summer.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Zach: The teammate that left the biggest impression on me would have to be my doubles partner from last year, Jaydon Hill. He was a great partner and a great friend. He kept me under control when things got heated.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Zach: I’m passionate about tennis because it’s such a fun sport with great people. It’s such a great environment to be around.
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?
Zach: I look up to Nick Kyrgios. He’s a wonderful tennis player, and his serve is one of the craziest serves I’ve ever seen. One day I would like to have one as fast as his.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Zach: My favorite teacher would have to be my eighth-grade science teacher. She was a very kind, sweet, and patient teacher. She cares a lot about her students and treats them like her own.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Zach: I look up to my father. He’s taught me many things. Especially to be hardworking, and provide for his loved ones.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Zach: I would like to thank Claire Bacon for getting me into the sport, and I would also like to thank Levi Kurr. Without him, I would not be as good as I am now. So thank you.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Zach: I love representing Grove High School. The whole school is very supportive, and kind.
