
Miami High School junior Hunter Nichols is a multisport athlete. Hunter plays football, runs track, and is a powerlifter. Hunter plays the positions of running back and edge rusher.
If one word could be used to summarize Hunter, it would be determined.
Hunter explained, “My life has been one of intense and frequent hardships, but despite all of them, I have been blessed enough to have had support from wonderful my friends and members of my community.”
Hunter went on to explain what makes him successful in sports.
“My success, or relative success, has been the culmination of thousands of hours worth of individual work outs, drills, study, and research. I utilize every available facet in order to achieve some sort of success, regardless of the activity.”
When asked what motivates him the most, Hunter stated, “I am most motivated by the ability to inspire others to strive for something greater.”
In terms of a role model that Hunter looks up to, there are two individuals that stick out.
“One of my biggest role models includes rapper Talib Kweli, for his representation and sponsorship of a more righteous and peaceful mindset. The other is NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant, because he represented an example of how passion, hard work, and perseverance can help an individual overcome poverty and dangerous living conditions.”
In regards to a favorite memory while playing high school sports, Hunter stated, “The highlight moment of my career thus far has been helping my team achieve its first playoff appearance in over a decade.”
Besides playing for the Miami Wardogs, Hunter is involved with other school activities including book club, and an afternoon government course.
Hunter plans on pursuing higher education after graduating from Miami High School.
“After graduating high school I intend to continue my education and athletic career in college. I’m most interested in a career in law; ideally as a criminal defense attorney.”
