JAY LADY BULLDOGS
Coach: TERRY SWEENEY
2024-25 Record: 14-15
OUTLOOK
Head coach Terry Sweeney has prepared the Lady Bulldogs for a tough schedule, but regardless of the opponent, coach Sweeney feels this team will compete and play at a high level this season.
“I think we will be competitive and have a chance to be pretty good. We should be eight deep, that’s with three full time starters, two part time starters back and three sophomores that were undefeated last year as freshmen. Keys are, we have got to be in top shape, rebound and play harder than are opponents,” coach Sweeney said.
VYPE Top 100 selectee Kayla Greer (5-6, Sr.) averaged 11.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game last season. Greer shot 32.5% from the three-point line as a shooting guard. Greer runs off screens well and plays solid defense. Wesley Beaty (5-8, Sr.) is a post player who averaged 5.5 points and 3.4 rebounds a game. Beaty his 41% from the field.
Another guard to watch is Harlan Blackfox (5-6, So.) who averaged 5.4 points and 4.1 rebounds as a freshman. Kaydee Buzzard (5-6, Jr.) adds to the production from her shooting guard spot with 2.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per contest. Buzzard and Blackfox are steady players who contribute in big ways.
Zariah Kingfisher (5-7, So.) and Jovy Ward (5-9, Jr.) give the Lady Bulldogs two players who can consistently post numbers that help this team win games. Ward will play in the post where she can account for 4.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals a game while Kingfisher will throw in 1.9 points and 1.8 rebounds.
Three players looking to get in on the action are Mia Mcelwee (5-7, So.) at guard, Jaliyiah Studie (5-5, So.) at shooting guard and Keely Hollenback (So.) in the post.
