AFTON LADY EAGLES

Coach: TOM HUBBARD

2024-25 Record: 17-11

OUTLOOK

Several key players make their way back to the court for the Lady Eagles as head coach Tom Hubbard is fine tuning the lineup and looking to build off the success of 2024-25.

“Our team returns a strong core from last season, including the top four scorers, providing a solid offensive foundation. Depth will once again be a strength for our team, with seven players bringing starting experience and nine total returners from last year’s 17-11 campaign,” coach Hubbard said.

Gracie Cook (Sr.) returns after averaging 8.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.4 assists per game. Not to be outdone, Brynlee Victor (So.) returns after a solid freshman campaign where she averaged 7.9 points and 1.2 assists per contest. The pair accounts for nearly 20 points per game.

Mela Sanders (So.) is a point guard and was a consistent player last season putting in 4.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.8 steals a game. Cashlyn Todd (So.), another underclassman who grabbed solid minutes as a freshman, averaged 4.6 points with 4.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals a game. Fairland HS transfer Joely Bell (So.) is an exciting player at forward and could help this team in multiple ways.

Also look for Callee Chastain (So.) at guard, Hannah Ferris (Sr.) at guard, Shealynn Hilton (So.) at guard, Presley Griswold (Fr.) at forward, Amberlynn Frost (Fr.) at guard, Mia Lester (Fr.) at point guard, Payton Drake (Fr.) at forward and Maddison Wethey (Fr.) at guard.

The X-factor for the Lady Eagle could be Katee Shouse (Jr.) at forward who averaged 3.0 points a game as a sophomore. Shouse continues to improve her game and could develop into a go-to player for quality minutes on the court.

“This experienced group has been putting in the work throughout the summer and offseason, building chemistry and sharpening their skills in preparation for the upcoming season,” coach Hubbard said.
