MIAMI LADY WARDOGS
Coach: KALEE BAXTER
2024-25 Record: 10-17
OUTLOOK
Head coach Kalee Baxter will field a young team this season, but despite their age, coach Baxter feels they can grow and accomplish their goals this season through hard work and a dedication to living up to their potential.
“We are a young, energetic basketball team full of heart, hustle, and potential,” coach Baxter said.
A trio of juniors are leading the way this season. Raychel Cook (5-7, Jr.) will play forward, alongside Dallie Young (5-5, Jr.). Both players are capable of giving the team quality minutes on the court. The pair of forwards are tasked with bringing leadership to the floor and in the locker room.
The sophomore class is the largest group on the team this season. With six sophomores, experience may be a question, but they bring a lot of fire to the court for Miami. Makya Harwood (5-5, So.) is the only forward listed in the class. The rest are playing guard. Rhyan Long (5-4, So.), Peyton Moore (5-1, So.), Zoe Moore (5-0, So.), Camille Showen (5-4, So.), and Paisley Young (5-4, So.) are all looking to gain more experience and contribute to the overall success of the program this season.
A few freshmen could play key roles this season, included two players who figured into the low post game for the Wardogs. Jainiya Barger (5-3, Fr.) could see time at guard while Makena Kamumo (5-8, Fr.) and Indrea Lampen (5-8, Fr.) will likely become the post players Miami needs this season.
This is coach Baxter’s first season at MHS and the players who buy in to the program will enjoy her coaching style and the eventual results. Look for the Lady Wardogs to fight and compete this season and continue to grow as a team.
