Ketchum’s Breanna Shofler – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by BancFirst Ketchum

Breanna Shofler loves basketball. The thrill of the game keeps her striving to achieve more. The fast pace and competitive side of the game is what she loves most about basketball.

Shofler is a sophomore at Ketchum High School. The deep bonds developed on the court make the Lady Warriors team feel like family. Working side by side with her teammates has taught her life skills, including teamwork, discipline and leadership.

“My favorite part about representing my high school as an athlete is the sense of pride it gives me. I enjoy myself knowing that my hard work not only reflects on me but also on my school,” Shofler said.

In first grade, Shofler was at a new school and wanted to fit in. Seeing all the other kids playing basketball gave her the urge to try it out herself. Now she is building memories of the game. Hitting a half-court shot against Chelsea stands out above the rest. Shots like that do not happen every day, making it an accomplishment to be proud of.

On the court, fellow teammate Keira Bethel inspires her. Bethel’s drive and determination for success make Shofler work harder and set higher goals for herself. However, the biggest inspiration in Shofler’s daily life is her cousin.

“My little cousin Payton inspires me in everything I do. Anything I do, I do for him since he couldn’t,” she says.

Coach Savvy is Shofler’s favorite teacher. Her support pushes Shofler to be her best in everything she does. When it comes to the classroom, her favorite subject is Ag Communications.

“It teaches me how to communicate clearly and professionally. It also helps me build confidence when talking in front of others,” Shofler said.

Along with her school activities, Shofler likes archery and going fishing. She also enjoys a good rodeo. Her most memorable vacation was to the 2017 NFR in Las Vegas, where she had front row seats.

Shofler thanks her parents and coaches for refusing to let her settle with good enough. She wants to continue challenging herself after high school by going to college and becoming a radiologist.
