Fairland’s Remington Wyrick- Athlete Spotlight- Presented by Tristate Insurance

Fairland High School senior Remington Wyrick embraces leadership, family and resilience as she prepares for her final season on the softball field.

Wyrick, who will be a senior this fall, has become a steady presence for the Lady Owls, contributing primarily in the outfield while also stepping into multiple roles when needed. Her versatility reflects a team-first mindset shaped by years of encouragement from her parents.

“My mom and dad have taught me to work hard for what you want because no one will hand it to you,” Wyrick said.

That mentality carries into every aspect of her game, especially at the plate, where her focus is simple and effective.

“Just to get on base any way I can,” she said.

Wyrick said the bond among teammates is what she values most about the program. The group’s chemistry extends beyond practices and games, creating a family-like atmosphere.

“We work hard together, have fun together, and become like family both on and off the field,” she said.

That connection is reinforced by team traditions, including a pregame prayer that unites the players before each contest. It is a moment Wyrick considers one of the team’s most meaningful unwritten rules.

On a roster filled with personality, Wyrick pointed to teammate Rylin Reed as both the most vocal and the one who keeps spirits high.

“She takes both of those titles with her loud personality,” Wyrick said.

While she enjoys competing, Wyrick understands the lessons softball provides beyond the field. She said staying positive through adversity is one of the most important takeaways she will carry into the future.

Defensively, Wyrick said reading the ball off the bat remains the biggest challenge in the outfield, a skill she continues to refine as she prepares for her senior season.

Off the field, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading and visiting the lake. In the classroom, science is her favorite subject, and she credits teacher Ms. Shaw for making learning engaging.

As Wyrick enters her final year, she hopes to continue contributing to a team culture built on support, effort and togetherness qualities that have defined her high school career.
