FAIRLAND OWLS
Coach: CHAD ROSS
OUTLOOK
Fairland will have to replace four senior starters from last season but returns five starters and is primed for another big year under head coach Chad Ross, who led the Owls to a 30-9 record and regional tournament final appearance in 2022. “We return five starters from our regional runner-up team.
Graduated four seniors that left huge shoes to fill,” Ross said. “We don’t have any seniors on the roster, but our junior and sophomore classes are both solid.” Sophomore third baseman/outfielder/utility player Calli Moncada returns after battling injuries as a freshman and is expected to do big things in 2023. Junior Jaylee Campbell is another important piece returning as a two-year starter at shortstop. “She is a hard worker and a true team player and a leader,” Ross said. Two-year starter Ella Oswald is back for her junior campaign as an outfielder. “Does things right, on and off the field,” Ross said. Pitcher/second baseman Aubrey Kinsey, outfielder/utility player MaKenna Lawson, outfielder Gracin Riggs, utility player Rylee Talbot and outfielder Arika Pogue are other returning juniors that will contribute. Other sophomores returning include catcher/utility player Alivia Bartley, first baseman Mia Ross, pitcher/outfielder McKenna Hicks, outfielder Bryleigh Moore and utility player Lainey Crawford. Freshmen who will play roles are outfielder/second baseman Remington Wyrick, first baseman Melanie Crafton, and outfielders Korinna Rawlins and Rissa Blalock.
