Ketchum Warriors 2023 Football Team Preview – Presented by BancFirst Ketchum

KETCHUM WARRIORS

Coach: TANNER BROWN

5-5

OFFENSE

As he prepares for his fourth season leading the Warriors football program, head coach Tanner Brown reflects back and sees the growth and progress that has taken place. And he says that he is excited to see what they can do this season. “Ketchum football is building,” Brown stated. “In my first season, we had fourteen kids play and we went 0-10. The next season we were 3-7 with twenty-one players. And last season finished at 5-5 with twenty-five football players. We started this spring with thirty-four and my senior group has started all three years and has been through the rebuild. We are looking to make a splash this season and surprise Class A football.” Eli Wigglesworth (6-2, 200, Sr.) and Justin Johnson (5-8, 165, Jr.) will both see time at quarterback this year. Coming out of the backfield will be JT Trout (5-11, 170, Sr.) and Lane Collins (5-7, 180, Sr.), who combined for 2,448 total yards last season and will carry that production into this season. Wide receiver Brendon Smith (5-10, 150, Sr.) is someone that will have to be dealt with on the outside, while Kaden Braden will anchor the offensive line at right tackle.

DEFENSE

The Warriors defense has some experience coming back and that will be an asset for the team. Leading the charge at linebacker will be Jaedon Trout (5-11, 170, Sr.), Collins, and Wigglesworth. The trio will be a force this season after totaling 245 tackles, seventeen sacks, and three interceptions as a group last season. Doing the dirty work up front will be linemen Waylon Carriger (5-9, 180, Jr.) and Jeremiah Richison (6-0, 190, Sr.). Carriger ended last year with 73 tackles and eight sacks, while Richison had 67 tackles and four sacks. Working to shut down opposing receivers is Johnson, who had 54 tackles and seven interceptions.
